Abstract

Internationalization agenda taken by universities in Central Europe opens the necessity of accrediting and offering new modern study programs where English is becoming a common tool and means of communication, gaining and sharing the knowledge. The aim of the pilot study was to identify strengths and weaknesses viewed by the sample of disciplinary teachers from selected Czech and Slovak higher educational institutions in selected study programs, who wish to implement CLIL and prepare modern teaching materials, use them in the process of teaching at their institutions, and cooperate with foreign language teachers – ESP or CLIL specialists. Team work and cooperation of disciplinary teachers with CLIL and ESP teachers enables to identify, cope with and beat the barriers, furthermore support foreign language empowerment via facilitation, positive motivation, enhance modules creation and further verification of activities and materials in the teaching process.
